Class details
Join us for Breakdown Screen Printing, a three week course led by Amarjeet Nandhra during which you create your own fabrics for future textile projects.
Thursdays
10.30am – 3pm
17 & 24 November and 1 December
Course Fee: Full Price £250; Retiree Price £235; Concession Price £200
Limited to 8 people
During this course you will learn a screen printing process that creates wonderful serendipitous marks on to fabric. We use procion dyes that are fibre-reactive cold water dyes. They are fixed chemically instead of with heat and are perfect for a range of textile techniques including printing. We are also using thickened paste.
You will experiment with
- different types of deconstructed printing
- embedding objects into a layer of dye
- dye straight from squeegee bottles to make patterns marks
- combining these methods
The simplicity of the technique allows for marks unique to each individual.
At the end of the course you will have a range of fabrics that would be suitable for quilting, collage and stitching.
No matter your level of experience, everyone is welcome to join us and breakdown screen printing with Amarjeet.
We provide light refreshments throughout the day, but please bring your lunch. Or you could visit our neighbouring cafes in Dickens Yard – there are lots to choose from.
