About London Youth Choirs

Rachel Staunton and Suzi Digby OBE established London Youth Choirs (LYC) in 2012. They were inspired by the unifying effect of the Olympics on young people with so many participating in sport after the Games ended. They aim to offer young people the same sense of unity through singing. Now LYC runs eight choirs with 350 members. The young people meet weekly and come from 30 London boroughs. There are over 700 LYC alumni. 2023 is LYC’s 10th Anniversary and they are starting two new choirs.

The new LYC West Junior Choir meets once a week on a Thursday during term-time. They meet in St Barnabas Church Hall. It’s a fun and fulfilling musical experience for children aged 7-11yrs old (school years 3-6).

LYC choir members receive outstanding music teaching in a supportive and caring atmosphere and take part in exciting performance opportunities at iconic venues. LYC members have

  • performed for the Royal Family at the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey
  • been recorded for the BBC’s Children in Need broadcast
  • appeared at the Platinum Party at Buckingham Palace as part of the Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations.
