Learn how to make a patterned clay tile with Consuelo Radclyffe is a fun workshop for children aged between 8 and 10 years old.

In week one you learn about clay; how to use the material and what methods you need to create a unique tile. We’ll look at the patterns other artists have used in tile making and discuss how they have made them. Then it’s our turn to make our own pair of tiles.

In week two we look at colours and decoration. We decide how to complete the tiles. You can follow traditional patterns and colours associated with cultures and countries, or create your own unique tile.

By the end of the second week you will have a pair of decorated tiles you have designed and made. They can be hung on the wall, laid flat or displayed on a stand.

We provide all the materials required for the workshop but please wear messy clothes and bring an apron.
