This hand-built ceramic mug and teaspoon set workshop is suitable for adult beginners. If you do not have any experience working with clay, this workshop is ideal. You’ll also have fun, if you have some experience – we welcome all levels.

Limited to 8 people
Learn to hand-build a beautiful, elegant and unique Mug and Teaspoon Set using ancient hand-building techniques which include pinch pot and slab rolling. You’ll also learn how to create delicate scalloped detail, and the method of forming simple yet elegant curves for the mug and teaspoon (no pottery wheel required).
We’ve split the workshop into three stages:
- ONE: Prepare Clay, Create Slip, Pinch Pot
- TWO: Scratch and Slip, Slab Rolling, Create Handle
- THREE: Scallop Teaspoon, Scallop Base, Personalise Base
The classes are designed so that you will have a lovely time in a relaxed, creative, friendly space. They are suitable for adult beginners with no experience and all levels are welcome.
Once you’ve created your pieces we take them to be bisque-fired, glazed or glaze-fired. You can either collect your work, or we can post it to you.
The fee for this hand-built ceramic mug and teaspoon workshop includes all materials, tools, kiln firing and postage. However, if you have a favourite apron, please do bring it along.

About the Tutor
Divinia Fleary (BA, MSC) is a hand-building ceramicist. She studied at the Redbridge Institute under the tutelage of Maria Enchenique and specialises in creating beautiful, elegant and unique hand-built ceramics.
In 2020 she was the Pottery Expert for Kirstie Allsopp’s Handmade Festival on Channel 4. She was responsible for teaching online participants ancient hand-building techniques. In 2019 Divinia took part in BEAT (Borough of Ealing Art Trail). She exhibited her work at Gunnersbury Park Museum.
Prior to becoming a ceramicist, she led an fulfilling creative career as senior editor at the BBC. She worked on educational children’s art, craft and entertainment magazines and mainstream movie magazines.
She now runs her own business, “TouP Ceramics”.
