Class details

Painting in Oils is a series of four workshops for anyone who loves painting with oil paints, or wants to give them a try.

Wednesdays

10am – 1pm

6 – 27 November inclusive

Course Fee: £100

Limited to 9 artists

During this course we shall look at various ways of incorporating movement into our paintings. The illusion of movement adds energy and activity to a painting, whatever the subject, and helps bring it alive.  We shall explore various ways of achieving this using colour, line, shape and composition, plus active brushwork to build dynamism in our paintings.

This does not necessarily mean painting moving subjects, such a train or dancers, although you might be interested in doing so.  If so, you could look at the works by the Italian Futurist artists who wanted to paint a modern world full of dynamic action – eg these paintings by Balla from the early years of 20th Century.

Our studio is a place for you to plan and start your painting; then bring it to fruition with support and encouragement from an experienced oil painter.

Set aside a little me time; join Diana on Wednesday mornings and learn all about painting in oils.
