The workshop beautifully combines traditional Chinese brush calligraphy and painting. Participants work in two smaller groups rotating between calligraphy and painting, guided by Mr Yau and Ms Chan. By the end of the session, everyone will have the chance to blend these techniques into a special, finished artwork.
During the workshop Mr Yau and Ms Chan will share fascinating insights into the history and significance of these two artforms.
To complete the experience, immerse yourself in the calming tradition of Chinese tea culture, with a tea ceremony and a chance to savor delicious brews and Hong Kong delicacies.
Whether you’re a beginner or simply curious, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn, create, and unwind.
Instructors’ profiles
Mr Sheung-Chak YAU, widely recognised in the calligraphy circles of Asia, has earned accolades for his exquisite artistry as a calligrapher and seal carver. As an active member of several prestigious calligraphy associations, including the Hong Kong Calligraphy Professional Association, Mr Yau’s creations have garnered numerous awards, such as the gold medal at the National Literary Couplets Calligraphy Competition. His works have graced
exhibitions in major cities, including Nagoya, Paris, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, and various cities in China. Additionally, his calligraphy has been featured in national-level collections and national pavilions, art institutions, and private collections internationally.

Ms Helen Chan, born and raised in Hong Kong, draws from her rich cultural background and artistic expertise to create distinctive works of art. With a degree in Visual Arts Education and over a decade of studying traditional Chinese painting, she seamlessly blends her love for East Asian traditions with the charm of British culture, both old and new. Now based in London, Helen’s art embodies the harmony of “East meets West,” combining classical techniques with modern themes inspired by nature, everyday life, and her cross-cultural journey.
