Life Drawing –  How to begin. Map out a figure simply and then add the detail as you go.  A simple egg shape for the head a rectangle for the torso…

We keep the group numbers low so everyone gets one to one tuition with Sheila during the session.

If you have no or little experience in life drawing and want to learn how to draw the human figure, these tutored life drawing classes will suit you. We have created a supportive friendly setting where you start to get to grips with

  • proportions of the human body
  • how to measure angles
  • how to use tone and shadow to make your drawing 3D
  • faces, hands and feet
  • how to use colour!

If you want a refresher, or just enjoy a spot of figurative art, you’d be very welcome too. We use a different professional model every week so you get to draw a wide variety of figures. The models strike a series of short and long poses.

Join Sheila Moylan for an enjoyable two hours developing your life drawing skills on a Saturday morning.

Join Brittany for a fun-filled evening of cutting, pasting, and more at our monthly collage workshop!

December Theme: Cool Colours

1 December

All Sessions: 7 – 9pm

In this workshop you will learn the basic techniques for creating a stunning collage using a variety of media such as vintage books, magazines, and other materials. You will go home with an A4 masterpiece, as well as an optional greeting card or postcard to share with someone else.

You don’t need any experience to join the workshop and we provide all the materials. However feel free to bring your own images and/or magazines to incorporate into your collage.

Invite a friend along for a great night out!

Why Collage?

Collage is not only a fun and expressive art form, but it also offers a wealth of mental and emotional benefits, including:

  • Boosts Creativity: Encourages experimentation and out-of-the-box thinking as you work with a range of materials and techniques.
  • Reduces Stress: The tactile process of tearing, cutting, and assembling can be incredibly meditative and calming.
  • Enhances Focus: Focusing on the creation process helps quiet the mind and can increase mindfulness.
  • Encourages Problem Solving: Combining different elements to form a cohesive image boosts your ability to think critically and creatively.

Whether you’re an experienced artist or a complete beginner, collage offers a unique way to express your ideas, emotions, and personal style.

Come to Life Drawing during December at OPEN Ealing. It is an untutored session. You find that drawing in the company of like minded artists in the middle of the week is a great way to relax.

Wednesdays

7 – 9pm

3 & 10 December

£15 Adults / £12.50 Concessions per session

We limit the number of artists attending each session. However we also have a waiting list in case someone drops out. If you have missed booking a spot but can come along at short notice, join our waiting list and tell us which dates you can make. We shall let you know if a place becomes available.

It’s a facilitated session for artists who have some experience of life drawing, or those who like developing their style and increasing their line miles under their own steam. We work with a number of professional life models who strike a series of short and long poses. Although we have a different model every week, if you are building a portfolio using a particular model, rest assured they will return!

We have a large room and make sure everyone has sufficient room to have a good view of the model. We place the model either in the round, or at one end of the room and we arrange the artists’ positions accordingly.

It’s a wonderful way to spend a Wednesday evening. In our opinion life drawing is essential. We hope you agree and look forward to seeing you coming to life drawing during November at OPEN Ealing.

If you like life drawing, what about a life painting session? We are considering starting a new course using Rodin and the spontaneity of his drawings as the inspiration. Email us for more details.
