Join us for Ealing Extranormal Volume 42. It is a monthly showcase for sonically adventurous experimental music in West London in association with OPEN Ealing.

The Programme
In this edition we feature sets from:
RM23
RM23 is an experimental sound ensemble that creates unconventional, improvised soundscapes from field recordings, found sounds, treated objects, guitars, gongs, synths, and voice, making each set an unrepeatable dialogue between sounds that we collect and manipulate and the spaces and places in which we find ourselves.
The Flooded Slate Pipes
The Flooded Slate Pipes is the long-overdue performance project from Martin Lau (Flooded Access) and Andy Rowe (The Slate Pipe Banjo Draggers). They have worked together since 2018 in a curator/artist relationship that has evolved (mutated) into a mutual (mutant) creative collaboration. For this debut performance, they combine manipulated cassette tapes, woodwind, percussive found object (just the one) and granular synthesis.
Musician and visual artist Martin Lau’s sound work explores improvised music and soundscapes, often drawing on the atmospheric vastness of outer space and the deep sea. He curates the monthly experimental music showcase Ealing Extranormal.
The Slate Pipe Banjo Draggers’ live incarnation involves a constantly changing selection of mini & micro cassette players, Walkmans, dictaphones, mixers and effect units and an ever-growing collection of found and prepared tapes.
Rob Flint/FLOMO
Rob Flint explores heightened or overwhelming sensory experience and the idea of ‘voice’, in spoken, written, printed, projected form in galleries, screenings, music and performance venues. The work uses rhythm and repetition to find out where information dissolves into sensation. Rob’s choral work for volunteers ‘Come il Lavoro (Like Work)’ was presented in the Research Pavilion at the 2019 Venice Biennale. He currently collaborates with Lisa Selby (@bluebaglife), excerpts from which will be included in this performance.
FLOMO is a project Rob set up to perform with video image and sound, using software and analogue tools to create spacious and dream-like combinations of pattern, rhythm, and tone.

Minimum Sentence
For this event, Minimum Sentence will perform one of a kind half-improvised ritual – stripping his usual industrial sound of any noise and chaos, what is left is a blend of ominous oscillations, brooding frequencies and dystopian echoes.
