Edin Suljic & Martin Lau (Flooded Access)
Edin Suljic is a published writer, poet and artist based in London. His work has been exhibited at Tate Modern, and he performs internationally. Edin grew up in the multicultural, multinational society of former Yugoslavia, moving to the UK at the onset of the tragic Yugoslavian war in 1991. He likes a good story; telling and making stories about people in all their diversities is the best way of bringing people closer together.
Musician and visual artist Martin Lau performs under the name Flooded Access. His work involves the creation of improvised soundscapes using woodwinds, a single found percussive object and electronics. He created and runs Ealing Extranormal, a concert series focused on sonic exploration and attentive listening. Much of his practice develops through collaboration. Martin and Edin first performed together at the Whitechapel WriteIdea Festival and continue their conversation between words and sound tonight.
John Bisset
“I have been exploring the Double8 lap steel for this past year, inviting tunings for this 16 string beast from composers and musicians I like. I will be playing solo on this evening, improvising with these given tunings. Contributors include Rhodri Davies and Jem Finer.”
Panos Ghikas
London-based composer, improviser, and producer who explores interdisciplinary collaborations in digital media, film music, and pop production.
“I am a member of the surrealist post-pop band The Chap, collaborate with Jennifer Walshe and Nick Roth, and run Migro Records. My work features in over 60 releases [Universal, EMI, Lo Recordings (UK), Migro (UK), Diatribe (IE), Ghostly International (US), Staatsakt (DE)] and has been performed and broadcast internationally.
For the Ealing Extranormal show, I will experiment using the Unrealtime sonic improvisation instrument, electric viola, electric percussion, transducer-pickup feedback loops, ambiguous emojis, and politically impartial words.”
We look forward to seeing you at Ealing Extranormal Volume 46.
