Artist Profile

Sandy Howarth graduated with honours from Parsons School of Design, New York and abandoned her interior design career to care for her son who was later diagnosed with autism. Having lived and home educated him in Dubai; she returned home to the UK with her son and baby daughter in July 2000. She successfully challenged the Local Education Authority for their failure to meet her son’s educational needs.

After 24 years of caring for her son he moved into supported living.

Following his move she painted her path to “Life and Recovery” Sandy’s art is a form of her expression in many ways. It comes from a place of great hardship, deep movement, solid stillness – all driven by love and solitude. She works mainly in oil on canvas, and has exhibited her paintings at numerous Art Fairs in London.
