Workshop Fee: £25 (£20 Concessions)
Expand your creativity with pen and ink is limited to 8 people.
Pen and Ink is a popular technique. Rembrandt and Turner to Van Gogh all used it. It combines the techniques of drawing and painting in a simple but effective way.
This course is suitable for beginners as well as those who have some experience of drawing & painting in ink. In each workshop you learn techniques and work on a composition.
Artist and experienced educator, Andrea Tierney will help you expand your creativity in pen and ink in a structured 6 week course.
Week 1
We focus on the basics of drawing, mark making and shading techniques with nib pen and ink. We create a floral still life by looking at contrast, tone, negative space, line and area.
Week 2
Learn how to work with brush and ink and create a portrait by diluting ink and layering.
Week 3
Learn how to combine nib pen and brush techniques. We work from natural objects to create textures such as feathers, bark, moss, rocks and stones.
Week 4
By drawing images of trees and bushes we learn how to achieve the illusion of depth, using brush and ink.
Week 5
Inspired by feathers we learn how to use different colour inks with black to create layers and textures.
Week 6
Examine the Chinese way of ink painting and create a still life using Chinese paper and brushes. (These materials can be supplied).
