Linocut for Beginners is a one-day workshop, aimed at allowing you time to complete all the steps
from drawing and carving the design to printing on various papers and even adding colour before or after the printing process. You will have fun learning this technique!
Tuesday 2 December
Start : 11am
Finish : 4pm
Lunch break : 1 – 2pm
Limited to 12 people
Fee : £35 per person (the fee includes light refreshments throughout the day and materials)
From drawing your image on the lino you will learn how
- Carve out areas with various shaped lino cutters.
- Ink your finished lino design.
- Print onto various papers.
- Create repeat patterns or a single design.
- The choice of subject will be yours.
We provide light refreshments throughout the day, but please bring your own lunch. Or you could take advantage of the cafes in Dickens Yard ( https://dickens-yard.co.uk/ ) and the Broadway – there are lots of places to choose from!
Materials
We provide all the materials you need for this one day course. However if you want to print on a special paper, please bring that with you.
Oh and don’t forget an apron, Linocut for Beginners can be messy!
About the Tutor
Andrea Tierney trained as a painter at the Academy of Fine Art in Vienna. She has been a practicing artist and art teacher for many years and is an avid participator in the cultural life of Ealing. Her favourite medium is watercolour, but she includes printing techniques like mono- and lino printing in much of her work. For larger work Andrea paints in acrylic and oil. She also designs and makes crochet jewellery.
